DataforSEO pricing explained

DataforSEO Pricing Explained: What Rank Tracking Costs

DataforSEO sells the raw data behind many SEO tools: Google results pages, search volumes, keyword difficulty, backlinks. Instead of a monthly plan, you top up a balance and pay for each request. That makes it far cheaper than a subscription for most rank tracking — once you understand how the prices add up.

All prices below are DataforSEO's list prices in US dollars, from its pricing pages in October 2026.

The three ways to get a Google results page

MethodPrice per page of 10 resultsHow long it takes
Standard queue$0.0006About 5 minutes on average (target: 45 minutes)
Standard queue, high priority$0.0012Up to about 1 minute
Live$0.002Up to about 6 seconds

The standard queue is how rank trackers usually work: you post the keywords, DataforSEO fetches them, and you collect the results when they're ready. Collecting them is free. High priority costs twice as much and moves your tasks to the front of the queue. Live answers immediately, at a little over three times the standard price.

Depth: the setting that changes the bill most

DataforSEO bills by pages of 10 results. Checking where you rank in the top 20 is two pages; the top 100 is ten. Most sites don't need the top 100 every day: the top 20 shows what's on page one and what's about to get there.

What rank tracking costs per month

Daily checks (30 a month), standard queue:

KeywordsTop 10Top 20Top 50Top 100
100$1.80$3.60$9$18
500$9$18$45$90
1,000$18$36$90$180
2,000$36$72$180$360

The formula is simple: keywords × pages × checks per month × $0.0006. Checking only on weekdays (about 22 times a month) cuts the figures by roughly a quarter; once a week, by about 85%.

Each extra market — another country, a city, mobile as well as desktop — is a separate results page, so it multiplies the cost.

Other prices worth knowing

  • Keyword data (DataforSEO Labs): $0.012 per request plus $0.00012 per keyword returned. Volumes, CPC, difficulty and intent for 500 keywords cost about $0.07.
  • AI Overviews: Google often loads the AI Overview after the page. Asking DataforSEO to wait for it (load_async_ai_overview) is billed as an extra unit on the check.
  • Search operators (site:, inurl:…) cost five times the normal price.

Paying for it

DataforSEO is pay as you go. The minimum payment is $50, funds don't expire, and new accounts get $1 of free credit to test with. At $3.60 a month for 100 keywords, $50 lasts a long time.

Using DataforSEO without writing code

DataforSEO is an API, so you need software in front of it. Altitude is a rank tracker for the Mac that runs on your own DataforSEO account: it reads your account's price, estimates what your projects will cost each month before anything is sent, keeps a daily spending limit, and uses the standard queue by default (with priority and live as options). If you'd rather not open a DataforSEO account, Altitude's prepaid balance charges DataforSEO's cost plus a margin.

You can try it free with one project and two keywords.
